Privacy Policy

The Short Version

KOPL does not operate servers. Your data stays on Apple's iCloud and your device. We cannot access, sell, or share your data because we never have it. There are zero analytics, zero ad networks, and zero tracking SDKs in the app. All AI processing runs on your device's Neural Engine — nothing is sent to the cloud.

Data We Collect

We do not collect your data. All data is stored on Apple's iCloud (CloudKit) public database, accessible only to members of your event group. KOPL the company has no database, no servers, and no access to your information.

Data Stored on iCloud

The following data is stored in Apple's CloudKit, shared only with your event group members:

  • Location data (latitude, longitude, speed, heading)
  • Display name and emoji avatar
  • Battery level
  • Chat messages within the event
  • SOS alert status and location
  • Event metadata (name, duration, boundary)

Data Deletion

All event data is automatically deleted when the event ends. KOPL does not retain location history, chat logs, or any personal data after an event concludes. This is by design — ephemeral events mean ephemeral data.

Mesh Network (Offline Mode)

When using KOPL's mesh network feature, data is transmitted directly between devices via Bluetooth and WiFi Direct. This data never passes through any server — it travels device-to-device and is not stored persistently.

On-Device AI

KOPL's AI features (group pulse summary, @kopl assistant, auto-translate) run entirely on your device using Apple's Foundation Models framework. No queries, prompts, or results are sent to any server. Your conversations with the AI stay on your phone.

Voice Messages

Voice messages are compressed using the Opus codec and transmitted via the mesh network or CloudKit. Voice data is not stored on any KOPL server. Transcription and translation are performed on-device using Apple's Speech and Translation frameworks.

App Clip

Users who join events via App Clip have the same privacy protections. App Clip data is automatically cleared by iOS when the App Clip is no longer in use. No persistent data is stored from App Clip sessions.

Third-Party Services

  • Apple iCloud (CloudKit) — event data sync between group members
  • Apple MapKit — map display and directions
  • Apple WeatherKit — weather information
  • Apple HealthKit — emergency medical card (read-only, optional)

No third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services are used.

Children's Privacy

KOPL does not knowingly collect data from children under 13. The app is designed for group event coordination and requires a device with an Apple ID to function.
